YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO ANSWER ALL OF THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS IN EACH OF THE CATEGORIES TO A YEAR 12 STANDARD.
THIS KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING AND ABILITY TO EVALUATE AND SYNTHESISE FIGUEROA'S FRAMEWORK EFFECTIVELY WILL ALLOW YOU TO COMPLETE THE ASSESSMENT ESSAY TASK TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY.

Figueroa's Framework
  1. State the 5 Levels of Figueroa's Framework and provide an explaination that would enable someone who has never heard of the Framework before to gain an understanding.
  2. Using Flip Cameras and in 5 groups - create a mini documentary (2mins max) on one of the levels of Figueroas Framework (as decided by your teacher) to emphasise your understanding of Access and Equity in sport - in particular ATHLETICS.
  3. Construct a Graphic Organiser involving the Levels of Figueroa's Framework and their interrelationship with each other to display your understandinf of how a Sporting Event could be created to enable a fair and equitable experience to all participants (boys and girls of the same age) involved.
  4. Consider the following poem, written by A Ahlberg.

    Picking Teams
When we pick teams in the playground,
    whatever the games may be,
There's always somebody left till last,
    And usually it's me.

    I stand there looking hopeful,
And tapping myself on the chest.
But the captains pick the others first,
Starting, of course, with the best.

Maybe if the teams were sometimes picked,
    Starting with the worst.
Once in his life a child like me,
    Could end up being first!

Critique the sentiment behind this poem using Figueroas Framewrok to suggest how access and equity could be enhanced in this situation.

Cultural Level
  1. Take a moment to think about your own personal body shape and generalisations that society might have about sport. Make a list of sports that your body shape may be well suited to according to these generalistions. Which sports do you think your body may not be a good match too?
  2. Using Prior Knowledge - using Fitness Components as your basis of judgement, which sports should your body be best suited too? and which sports not so best? What reasons support your assumptions; and which factors associated with Figeuroas Frameworks dont support these assumptions? Why?
  3. Create a list of behaviours, ways of dressing and personality traits that describe Australian society's views of gender idenitfied as : Musculine and Feminine
  4. Many people think think that sport is egalitarian. What does this mean?

Structural Level
  1. Construct a Graphic Organiser with 3 columns labelled as Human, Physical and Financial Resources. Write down all the Resources you have access to participate in in your favourite sport or activity. Now do the same for the sport we are doing in class this term - Athletics, in particular your chosen event. How is this a barrier to participation?
  2. Propose changes that could increase the 'equity' of a competition or event for a range of different disparities that maybe common in the competing athletes. Use the game of touch football, netball, volleyball and athletics feild events as your mediums.
